Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church, 8525 Audelia Road, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday, March 14th, as part of its 10:45 AM service. The groundbreaking will be celebrated with a church wide picnic and cookout on the back lawn. Music and entertainment will be provided by the LHPC Youth band, Altitude. The public is invited share in this celebration. The groundbreaking ceremony will mark the beginning of construction on the first phase of a master planned development. Phase I includes improvements to the existing sanctuary; a new Entry to the building; an enlarged Narthex; and the construction of over 12,500 square feet of new structure. Included in the new construction is a 3,500 square foot Fellowship Hall; a commercial-grade Kitchen; classrooms for Sunday school and the church's Child Development Center; and, a 1,500 square foot space dedicated to the Junior and Senior High youth groups. In addition, an existing wing of the building will be renovated to accommodate the church’s expanding programmatic and administrative needs. A new concrete parking lot, site work and landscaping will complete the first phase of renovations and additions. Work is scheduled to be completed within 6 months, at which time the church’s Child Development Center (temporarily housed at 9400 Plano Road) will be relocated to the new facility.
